To say the world was ready for 2016 to be over is an understatement — not that we have any reason to think that 2017 will be any better, but let's cling to a few shreds of hope while we still can, ya know?

Recapping this miserable and all-around weird AF year, someone created trailer for a horror movie based on 2016, and it's simultaneously amazing and terrifying.

The clip opens with the final ten seconds of December 31, 2015, when all of the characters are blissfully oblivious to what's about to happen to them. (#Relatable.)

But sh*t immediately gets real: Everyone pure and good dies. Phones explode and no one can call for help. England leaves Europe. An orange-faced monster sneaks up on everyone. "THEY SHOT A GORILLA."

Life imitates art, or something like that.

Cheers to 2017, y'all. Good luck out there. Can't get any scarier this year... right?
