If we took a poll about the amount of women who have sex while on their period, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s way more than you'd think. (feel free to leave your vote in the comments section, if you’d like.) It might not be a topic that a lot of ladies talk about, but some of us can’t imagine going a week without gettin’ some. And according to many physicians, “period sex” has some health benefits.
For starters, when you have an orgasm, it helps to release oxytocin and dopamine into your system. That not only helps to make you happier, but it can also alleviate cramping. Also, since orgasms help your uterus to contract and contractions help to remove more of the blood from your uterus, period sex can actually shorten the length of your period. Then there’s the no brainer: lubrication certainly isn’t necessary. (It may be a little gross to think about, but it's true!)
But this isn’t really about all of the reasons why you should have sex when you’re menstruating. This is about an invention that kinda tripped us out. There's a start-up called The Flex Company that recently raised one million bucks. To do what? To distribute a “unique disposable disc” that’s similar to a menstrual cup. Apparently, you can wear it for up to 12-hours without any leaks (we’re already sold!) and (what?!) you can even keep it in while you’re having sex!
