"Would you rather wear heels or flats for the rest of your life?" is arguably one of the trickiest questions you could ever ask a fashionista. Flats are way better for everyday wear — no contest — but a great pair of heels can take some outfits from "drab" to "fab" in a split second. We could never pick between the two — but Chrissy Teigen just did. In fact, she pretty much had to.
In a November interview with POPSUGAR, Teigen explained that her flat feet and "abnormally tight" calves are the reason she's hardly ever seen without a pair of heels on.
"I'm very uncomfortable in flats," she told POPSUGAR. "(I'm) very relaxed in a 6-inch heel. It's very bad for your lower back, and I have to see a chiropractor twice a week because of it, but yeah. I can't even wear Havaianas flip-flops because I don't like things in between my toes. Ballet flats look goofy on me because you can see the shape of my foot through them."
Flats must feel awful if she'd rather visit the chiropractor than wear them. Even sneakers, the type of flats we think are the comfiest, have been something Teigen's had to work up to; she didn't start wearing them outside the gym until earlier this year, and she's suuupuer particular about the style.
"I'd say unless it's a Yeezy or something that just makes me feel cool, that's pretty much the only thing that's going to happen," Teigen said. "Those or Common Projects. You know how some people get away with those cute white (sneakers) with their little shorts? I look so silly. I look like I'm playing dress up as Skipper or something."
A flat-footed, tight-calved girl's gotta do what a flat-footed, tight-calved girl's gotta do. More power to ya, Chrissy!
